Munster dealt blow as Carberry and Snyman ruled out for lengthy periods

Munster pair of RG Snyman and Joey Carberry are expected to face months on the sidelines as information of both injuries becomes more apparent.

Snyman, who picked up a World Cup winners medal only a few weeks ago suffered a shoulder and chest injury while Carberry picked up a wrist injury in Munsters win over Benetton at the weekend.

On Snyman, Head Coach Graham Rowntree said the below:

“He can't get a break. He's having an operation in South Africa on Friday this week, and ultimately we'll have to see what the surgeon finds when he goes in there. That'll give us an exact timeline but it's going to be months, not weeks.”

And on Carberry, Rowntree added:

“He is having an operation this week and it will be months… It will be a few months. Another one, we will see what they find when they go in there but it will be a few months.”

Key Points:

  • Snyman has only played 10 games for Munster since joining in 2020

  • Carberry has played 56 since joining in 2018

  • Carberry may miss the rest of the year, which will almost guarantee to rule him out for 6 Nations selection.
